XFL DFS Week 5 core plays

Last week was brutal. I was really close to having a great lineup. Had Landry Jones not had 4 turnovers or not been injured on the last drive I likely would have come out ahead. I went 2 WR in flex and that was probably a mistake.

The great thing about DFS is there is always next week. So here we go.

Quarterback - Taylor Cornelius - Tampa Bay

Cornelius has been consistently good over the last 2 weeks. At least for fantasy purposes. He offers a fairly high floor due to his rushing upside. He has rushed for 30+ the last two weeks with a rushing TD in both games as well.

LA looks like a tough defense on paper. But they got manhandled by Houston and Dallas had a good day against them as well. So I'm not that worried. If there is one thing they don't do well it's defend the run.

Getting a QB at $8500 with a safe floor is a no brainer here.

Running Back - James Butler - Houston

Houston doesn't run the rock much. But when they do they have space. They are taking on Seattle this week and are 12.5 point favorites. I actually think they cover and I think they do it pretty easily.

For that reason I am taking a shot on Butler. He is only $6700 and no more of a question mark than any of the other top teir RB's.

It's also the highest over under of the week so I want my exposure. He is the cheapest option to get it.

Wide Receiver - Tre McBride - Los Angeles

The Vipers are another team that look good on paper. But given the opponents they have faced so far I'm not shying away from them.

LA has had one of the better offenses week to week and I don't see that changing now. With Nelson Spruce out McBride has become the clear number 1 target for Josh Johnson.

It's best not to overthink things here. He is a high volume receiver in a good offense. It's the second highest over under on the week and Vegas thinks it's close.

Flex - Reece Horne - Tampa Bay

I'm going back to Tampa for the same reasons I just mentioned about McBride. It also gives me correlation with the QB which is always good.

Horne hasn't been extremely effective. But he has had 5 catches in each of the last 3 weeks. A catch or 2 more and a TD will see him smash his $5300 price tag.

We have to go cheap somewhere and I believe Horne is how we do it.

Worst case scenario is you take Houston's defense and have $7450 a player to fill the last 2 spots. There is plenty of value in that range. We should be making money this week.

Good luck everyone! Remember to have fun with it!
